设计师-汪镇宇
出生于1963年，1987年毕业于美国Pasadena Art Center大学，获得Transportation Design学士学位，成为该届通用汽车公司设计奖学金唯一获得者，并就职于美国底特律密西根通用汽车总部，成为进入该公司的第一个华人设计师，也是当时最年轻的设计师。在之后的十年内，为多间汽车设计公司担任顾问一职，其中包括Subaru、本田汽车、International Automotive Design、CALTY、丰田汽车、Dome & Jiotto Design 、菲律宾丰田汽车和Francisco Motor Company，并在菲律宾设计了政府的人民汽车。
1997年，成为第一个获得美国Pasadena Art Center大学Transportation Design设计硕士学位的华人，并相继任教于Pasadena Art Center、香港理工大学，浙江大学等。为郑州日产、南海福迪、天津一汽、北京吉普等国内多间汽车公司提供设计服务，其中北京吉普军车设计成为下一代军车“勇士”。成为现代、起亚第一次进入北京市场的特邀发言人，以及Economist、BDCI、Interior Motive等国际交流会议的客座发言人。并创立Sphere One Limited，专门为中国汽车工业提供汽车设计服务，并培育内地汽车专才。
The BJ2020 military jeep has served China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) for 35 years. When the PLA decided it was time for a brand new vehicle to replace the BJ2020, two companies were called upon to propose their designs. After 2 years of design and development, the proposal that was selected still did not fully satisfy the PLA.
That was when Mr. Edward Wong was called upon by Beijing Jeep Corporation (BJC) to propose his vision of what the next generation Chinese military jeep should look like. With more than 20 years of professional experience in the automotive design field, Mr. Wong was given a task that was seemingly impossible: to propose a brand new design, from sketch to 1:1 model, in less than 2 ½ months! Furthermore, he had to produce 2 versions of the vehicle: a regular cab and a tall-cab. To make it even more challenging, almost all the hard points of what has been developed thus far could not be changed at all. Mr. Wong took on these challenges and immediately began planning the design process.
Realizing the time restraint he had, Mr. Wong used a process he calls Compressed Design Process (CDP). While compressing every phase of the design process into the shortest time possible, he added several steps that would ensure the precision and accuracy of every step in the process, leaving no room for errors or redos. In the end, the final 1:1 model of the design was completed and presented to BJC and the PLA on time. All the challenges were faced and conquered. When it came time to decide which proposals to produce, the PLA finally picked Mr. Wong’s design. After further development, the brand new BJ2S will now in production under Beijing Auto Works.
